- Ethernet ports are INACTIVE by default in all residence halls.
- BSU offers a strong wireless network; however, if a wired connection is preferred or required, it is available per request only.
Wired Internet Request Form: Wired Internet Request Form
Notes:
- Before submitting a wired internet request, please review the Wireless Internet page to ensure your device is connected to the correct network. Using the incorrect network may result in a poor user experience.
- If you need a connection for gaming, we recommend first trying BSU_Gadgets or BSU_GameConsoles, which are specifically designed for consoles.
BSU_GameConsoles even provides an open NAT type by default!
- Wired connection requests are typically completed within 3 business days, though requests submitted at the start of a semester may take up to 7 business days.
- PLEASE NOTE: Personal routers are not allowed. They can cause interference with the University’s network and can intrude on other residents’ ability to connect.
Additional Information: Wired connections have a strict NAT type by default. Open NAT is available for gaming via an Open NAT Type Request. This request is typically required for gaming in a multi-player setting, party playing setting, game hosting, etc. Additional information about NAT types can be found on the ResNet website here: NAT Type Info - ResNet Website
